Why is it advisable to buy a separate radio device instead of using the one that comes free fitted to your cell phone or tablet personal computer? Using the radio installed in some other device may slow it down. You cannot listen to your MP3 player when you have the radio feature selected.

On the other hand, having a separate radio in your hand will help you use both devices at the same time. Of course, you may not listen to different music tracks at the same time but you can always share the device with some other person.

Why you are going for personal computer when you can buy a watch that comes in wireless receiver attached? Trying to surf the net on your watch is not going to be the same as trying to surf the web on your computer screen. In the same way, the best way to enjoy digital audio broadcasting is to have a special digital device designed for this purpose. Trying to mix it with other devices is not going to give you the same quality.

If you really love listening to the radio, a slight malfunction in your tablet personal computer may leave you without access to the radio as well. On the other hand, buying a good quality device from a reputed manufacturer is going to help you enjoy the facility without any hassles.

All these advantages combined with the fact that the cost of the radio is not very high means you can easily go in for this special option. The best way to enjoy the radio, especially digital radio, is to have a dedicated device.

Satellite Radio: Benefits and Advantages

Many people are already taking advantage of all the benefits of satellite radio.  If you have considered getting satellite radio but are not sure if it is for you, here is a look at the benefits of satellite radio.

One of the biggest benefits of satellite radio is the huge selection of music you have to choose from.  There are many different types of music from all different types of rock channels to jazz, classical, country or even international favorites to enjoy. While traditional radio offers a few varieties of music to listen to, satellite radio goes above and beyond by allowing listeners to listen to all their favorites without having to browse through several channels or listen to songs they may not really enjoy.

Another big benefit of satellite radio is the fact that there are no commercials.  Who wants to listen to loads of advertising while sitting through traffic?  Satellite radio is supported by listeners so listeners get what they pay for.  You get to listen to music all the time.  No more having to skip from channel to channel just to find the music you like.

In addition to a huge variety of music and no commercials, another huge benefit is the fact that the quality of the music is better.  There is no static or scrambling of different stations.  You get to listen to clear music.  This is great for traveling as you could drive from state to state and still get to listen to your favorites without having to worry about the changing channels.

Introduction to the FileZilla

The FileZilla is a free and open source FTP client which is both a reliable and fast cross platform. It contains many useful features as well as a user friendly interface to better the experience of the user. This is a free FTP solution which has FTP client and server programs. The program was developed by Kim Kosse and it currently supports the SFTP, FTP and FTPS protocols and offers a multiple platform. It can be used on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows and many other operating systems. This open source software is distributed under the GNU terms.

There are many reasons why the choice of the FileZilla is a reliable one. The main reason is the fact that it offers an architecture for internet applications which makes it the best in rapid file and information exchange. The software is also designed to be stable even when under use by many users. However, in spite of it being a perfect software for internet tasks, it is vulnerable to malicious attacks and hence the need for an antivirus on the system.

The current FileZilla release which is version 3.1.5 supports a number of features. This include the FTP, FTP over FTPS and the SSH file transfer protocol; IPv6 support, multiple languages, drag and drop support; configurable limits to speed; site manager and transfer queue; transfer of large files of up to 4GB; remote editing of files; filename filters among other great features.

It’s a Phone! It’s A Radio! It’s . . .

When you first see the HTC Wildfire, you may have difficulty determining exactly what it is. That’s because this phone, which was designed and manufactured by a Taiwanese firm, has so many features that it can actually be both. As a phone, this particular model gives you all the ordinary features of a phone — call waiting, Caller ID, and others. Some of these features are also accessible through HTCSense.com as well as others which are available on the phone itself.

But what makes this phone different from other similar models is its ability to provide Adobe Flash support. With this feature, you can access online video. You also have the capabilities to resize pages using the “pinch-to-zoom” feature. In addition, there is an auto rotation feature that allows you to change the page layout from portrait to landscape.

Further, this affordable phone comes with applications that allow you to access reference tools. One tap will give you access to a dictionary, a translation feature, and even the capability to utilize a popular online encyclopedia. OK, that explains how it can be a phone. Now you’re probably wondering how a radio fits into all this. Well, it does because the designers and manufacturers of the HTC Wildfire have included an FM radio right in the phone. You can listen to your favorite radio station no matter where you are.

This means you no longer have to worry about missing your favorite morning radio show’s funniest segment just because it comes right before the show’s sign-off. It also means you can hear your favorite song that had just begun playing in its entirety without having to sit in your car and run the risk of being late to work. These and other features make this phone very unique. Once you learn all of them, you may wonder why more people aren’t using the HTC Wildfire.

Digital Audio Broadcasting-Unable To Convince Masses Why It Is The Best Option

People love technology and are often fascinated by it. However, they are not prepared to go out of their way to accommodate the requirements of technology even if it is very beneficial. Just take the example of the various complaints of users when Windows Vista was announced.

The biggest complaint was the new OS expected users to learn and adapt to too many things at once. The entire set up was so complicated as compared to Windows XP that people preferred sticking to the old operating system despite knowing that it is not the best one around. Hence, technology will attract people only if masses can enjoy benefits without major changes to their lifestyle.

This is the reason why Apple iPod was a success. People were used to Walkman and CD players. The Apple iPod simply took them a step further and gave them a more compact and higher performance oriented device. Unfortunately, digital audio broadcasters have committed the same mistake that Microsoft committed with windows Vista.

They have not made the technology user friendly. Rather, they presumed that masses would flock to the technology simply because it was technically superior. A person listening to radio is never interested in the quantum of Kilobits or Megabits that is being transferred per second to the device.

As far as the end user is concerned, good quality sound means good quality performance. Digital audio broadcasting have not demonstrated that they can offer far superior sound quality at minimum cost. The cost of radio remains the same, quality has gone down and choices and options available have increased. As far as masses are concerned, the trade off does not make sense.

Given a choice between sticking to favorite content with normal quality or moving to extra content with poor quality, they have chosen the former. Digital audio broadcasting will have to get its basics right to become more popular with the masses.

DAB – Shockingly, Poor Quality Of Audio Is The Biggest Drawback

Digital watches are more accurate as compared to analog watches. This is supposed to be the biggest advantage that digital technology offers over all other technologies. In such a scenario, it is surprising that digital audio is often criticized for being poor in quality as compared to analog radio. Past experiences suggests that the quality of good old AM and FM radio is, nine times out of ten, better than quality of digital audio transmitted by digital audio stations.

This is indeed surprising because programmers can easily send high quality audio over the same airwaves without any significant investment or effort to the receiver. The problem arises due to the fact that digital audio broadcasters purposefully reduce quality of sound and end up transmitting audio that is not as good as standard radio. Why should broadcasters do that?

Well, one advantage of digital audio broadcasting is the increase in quality. However, another advantage is that more programs can be accommodated within the same spectrum as technology offers more space for broadcasters. Proponents of digital audio broadcasting did not expect radio broadcasters would be so greedy and would compress data to such an extent that quality of sound gets badly hit.

Supporters of digital audio broadcasting though broadcasters would compress sound to such an extent that additional programs may be added even as quality of sound ended up better as compared to standard radio. However, broadcasters have decided to kill the golden goose and have ended up offering very poor sound quality to the listener.

Not surprisingly, the already skeptical audience concluded that the digital audio broadcasting was a waste of time. Here is the perfect example of how to destroy a new technology. Rather than providing users with fantastic sound quality and asking them to pay more for the same, broadcasters tried to cram in too much content and ended up destroying quality in the process.

DAB+ – Users Doubt Whether It Really Offers Better Quality Over DAB

Release of the latest version of any and every technological innovation is a complicated process. There are some who feel that the new version could have included many more improvements. There are others who feel that the new version is unnecessarily complicated and stuffed with features.

There are many others who are simply not bothered about the improvement and prefer to stick to the same old thing. Well, service providers offering digital audio broadcasting now offer DAB+ which uses HE-AAC audio coding. Theoretically, switching to HE-AAC as compared to MP2 format used in standard digital audio broadcasting should offer better quality. However, people are just not keen on making use of DAB+.

The biggest problem here is that people have not enjoyed a high quality audio with DAB. Hence, the very premise that DAB+ is better than DAB is suspect. Another significant problem is that instruments capable of decoding DAB+ are not backward compatible with DAB service stations.

Traditional AM and FM radio has been divided into analog and digital radio. Now the latter option has been bifurcated further into DAB & DAB+. Sadly, people find this far too complicated for something as simple and entertaining as the radio. Unlike the television, radio is still a niche market. Of course, there are many persons who follow the radio and use it for their daily entertainment.

However, it is not given the same level of importance as computer or television. The absence of visuals is a very big disadvantage. While radio has survived the disadvantages, it remains to be seen whether specific technological innovations in radio like DAB can attract numbers. Until numbers buildup, service providers will find it very difficult to recover their cost. This is a harmful and negative vicious cycle that shows no sign of ending any time soon.

Broadcasting for Life

There was a time when only the well-voiced individual fit the role of broadcaster or radio personality, and you didn’t necessarily even need a degree to pursue it as a career. The fact is that now you can legitimately market yourself with a degree in broadcasting whether at a traditional university or by choosing one of the many online degrees available. You currently have more resources than anyone has ever had in the past; and you don’t have to be born with a voice made for radio—you can today receive the training to tailor to voice for it.

The rise of the Internet has given more opportunities for work or entrepreneurship in the field of broadcasting that would benefit your resume and experience, such as today’s internet radio stations and the prevalence of music file sharing software like Ares Galaxy. Blog Talk Radio is one such resource which allows you to create your own talk show for free! That’s something that never existed a decade ago. Numerous other Internet features like YouTube allow you to broadcast your own content exist. And with an open source program like Ares, you can share and promote your shows easily.

The fact is broadcasting has a very important place in the way communication is presented to the global community. Entertainment and education are paramount under the field, as you’re completely responsible for how people know what they know and why they know. Which is why it’s a valid field of study for any degree-seeking student.

Pursue any sub-field you like, too; you could go into TV broadcasting, or maybe you would like to get into the satellite radio phenomenon. Host your own professional talk show or music radio station. Even better is the sub-field that teaches you the developments of broadcasting—from beginning to the possible future! Who knows? You could be responsible for a new form of media that everyone will use someday soon. It’s a huge deal if your name becomes a household brand.

That’s broadcasting for life. Your life. If it’s something you desire, pursue it.

Digital Audio Broadcasting – A Bit Too Good For Its Own Good

Would you prefer a digital watch over a standard analog watch? An analog watch will only show the time. On the other hand, you can have a calculator, a tune creator, digital calendar, stopwatch, heart beat monitor and others such digital accessories fitted into your digital watch. How is this possible?

Well, converting analog signals into digital signals facilitates greater efficiency and optimization of space. All it takes his a coder and decoder at the right spot for the analog signals to be converted into digital signals without any difficulty. This is the reason why digital technology is considered superior to analog technology. Let us just take the example of digital audio broadcasting like digital radios.

The same old method of sending audio over radio waves is a very inefficient way of working. The spectrum has to be reserved and interference with other waves often affects sound quality. On the other hand, it is impossible for the any interference to take place when the audio is converted into digital binary language, consisting of 0 and 1, and transmitted over the airwaves.

The difference is the same as spraying water in the air and throwing bottles of water in the air. Even if an obstacle enters, the bottle is still going to ensure the water is unaffected. This is an oversimplification but it explains how digital audio is preferable. All you need is a device that will pump water out of the bottle at the receiving end and you would have transmitted water without any difficulty.

Despite these basic and obvious advantages, digital audio broadcasting is not catching on. Simply put, this technology is a bit far too ahead for its times. People see no reason to change something when it is working perfectly fine. The fact that digital audio broadcasting is supposedly better than standard radio is not cutting ice with majority of listeners.

DAB is Ready to Change Our Lives

Trends indicate that radio listenership is decreasing and radio advertising revenue is declining. Digital radio is what the world hopes will reverse these international trends.

Digital radio is a collection of technologies which will change our lives. These technologies include digital broadcast radio (HD radio in the United States and DAB in Europe and Asia), satellite and Internet radio. With the potential to improve the sound quality and variety of programming available, engaging listeners with better interactivity and new features DAB will also increase the ability of advertisers to target their most likely customers.

According to Wikipedia, targeted advertising is a where advertisements are placed so as to reach consumers based on various traits such as demographics, purchase history, or observed behavior.

In other words, computer searches, ATM or credit card purchases, perhaps even the in-store “club” or “advantage” cards can provide advertisers a wealth of valuable consumer data. When blended with other consumer data advertisements are delivered directly to the consumer most likely to respond and purchase their products.

Strong enough to stand on its own as a marketing strategy, behavioral marketing is even more effective when used in conjunction with factors like geography, demographics or the surrounding content.

Watch the ads next time you visit your favorite blog or shop an online discounter. Notice that the content displayed in side bar ads just happens to be more relevant to your specific interests.

On the theory that properly targeted ads will fetch more consumer interest, advertisers outside this traditional e-commerce marketplace have started to experiment with these emerging technologies where behavioral data is combined with demographic and past purchase history in order to take better aim in advertising targeting.

This is where Digital Audio Broadcasting has great potential.  Think about it, in the not too distant future you might be listening to your favorite HD Radio station and every commercial you hear has not been designed to grab your attention or advance a brand, but to more efficiently secure your repeat business.
