The digital audio broadcast industry is a victim of its own success today. Sound quality is so high that each and every improvement in technology requires purchase of a completely new set to access the service. This is like asking the user of a computer to buy a brand new keyboard due to an improvements in the operating system.
No matter how good the changes are, the individual is always going to reject the idea of getting and operating a new system. What makes matters worse is that the user is required to access both radios in order to listen to the original and the advanced version of digital audio broadcasting.
An average individual cares about three to four devices which can be used to listen to music. The addition of digital radio combined with the improved version is going to make the number unmanageable.
The ideal scenario is to come up with innovations that can be incorporated into the same device. However, the original audio broadcasting device is not advanced enough to work with the improved version.
In such a scenario, industry analysts suggest that the industry should reach a level where each and every improvement will not require a complete overhaul of the equipment and mindset. Perhaps then the industry would find it easy to capture and maintain volumes.
Well, analog radio service providers and internet radio service providers are not going to sit idle. The digital media market is booming and service providers have to capture the market as early as possible. The first mover advantage is very important.
Capturing the market will lead to advertising income. High income will facilitate better services. That is the reason why new shows are being announced practically every day to facilitate better consumer satisfaction for those who are using digital radios.
